Remembering Miguel
47-year old dynamo. Amazing stamina, perseverance and love of life – Miguel Lliteras. We received a phone call early this morning that Miguel suffered a massive heart attack yesterday at 5:30 p.m. and died instantly while he was working out at the gym. I had the privilege of sharing the platform with Miguel several weeks ago in Mexico after he invited me to be a keynote speaker for his customer and sales teams at the annual Palace Resorts Vacation Club Conference. I choose to remember Miguel as bigger than life — on the big screen — as he earnestly and passionately spoke about the future of Palace and all its new beginnings. As the international sales director, he was intensely passionate during his delivery, speaking and pacing and engaging others so much so that he lost his voice toward the end of his almost one hour motivating talk. Fortunately, Ron and I had the opportunity to speak with him privately, right as he came off that stage. We had the purity of his kind attention all to ourselves and he showed a humility and energy that I’ll never forget and that’s a wonderful last memory for me to have of him. He was pleasantly exhausted and grateful for us, for Palace, for everything.
